Item Description
For the plethora of minerals found in Brazil, a common species like Fluorite is almost non-existent. This piece originally came from the Rocksmiths in the late 1990s, and retains their original label of "Santa Rosa, Itambacuri" inside the "Perky" box in which it is mounted. I cannot say for certain if the locality is 100% accurate, but I was told by Jaye of the Rocksmiths that they personally obtained the pieces directly in Brazil from the mine owner. The fact that it's a nearly colorless (it has a very pale yellowish color) Fluorite is interesting enough, combined with the fact that the unique etching pattern makes for a wonderful thumbnail specimen. One can see the remains of the octahedral crystal form and the amazingly gemmy interior. If you collect gem crystals, thumbails or specifically GEM thumbnail specimens, do not miss out on this cool full sized thumbnail specimen from Brazil!!
