Item Description
Pretty mint-green, lustrous and translucent fluorite crystals cover the layered matrix of quartz and sulfides on this showy and rich specimen from the San Juans of Colorado. The iron oxide coated crystals are frosted and etched and have rough octahedral or dodecahedral form. The Trimingham label says the Standard Mine, a very obscure mine in the Ophir District. Specimens from here are EXTREMELY RARE. He bought this from a boy on the street in Silverton in 1972. Possibly from the nearby and more famous Idarado or Sunnyside mines, which were active at the time. A good cleaning would brighten up the fluorites. Purple fluorescence. Value???
