Fluorite (rare color for the locality)

The Huanggang Deposit has for many years produced some incredibly fine quality and distinctive mineral specimens, including a good number of Fluorites in various styles and colors. This piece is from a find circa 2012 and has one of the most distinctive colors I've seen from this locality, and frankly any locality. This piece is a fantastic, large, sharp, GEM quality, beautiful pink color (with a slight lavender overtone) stepped octahedral crystal, free of matrix. There is a bit of color zoning inside the crystal when backlit showing slightly more pink and slightly more lavender hues in certain areas. The front/display side of the piece is in great condition, with no major damage, but it's not totally complete on the back where it was separated from the matrix/pocket wall. Still, it's a nearly 3-inch crystal with a rare and alluring color from this soon-to-be-classic locality and if you collect Fluorites or Chinese minerals, I'll bet you don't have one of these in your collection.
