Item Description

Topeka Mine Fluorites are about as rare as they come in terms of San Juan minerals. I've only seen two of them before this piece arrived. What makes this piece special is not only the rare locality, but the excellent quality and rare yellow color of the Fluorite! A sharp, gemmy, lustrous, modified / stepped octahedral composite crystal of Fluorite measuring 1.8 cm sits atop a layer of sparkling white Quartz on host rock matrix. The Fluorite is undamaged and looks beautiful indoors and in sunlight. The other Fluorites I've seen from the Topeka Mine have always been green, but this one is distinctly yellow, which is not only rare for this locality, but virtually ANY mine / locality in Colorado! If you collect Fluorites or Colorado specimens, do NOT miss out on this one as it's fine quality for what it is, and virtually impossible to find on the market these days. Valued at $500 in the inventory. The piece was collected in 1985 by Tom Rosemeyer and Robert Stoufer, who found the best of these pieces over the years. From the collection of Gary Weaver of Prescott, Arizona (1944-2019). Gary was an electrical engineer who worked for many years for Hughes Aircraft in California.
