Fluorite (rare Brazilian pegmatite specimen)

The wide number of pegmatite localities in Brazil have produced a large number of species, but a common mineral like Fluorite is VERY rarely seen. There are other pegmatites around the world where Fluorite has been found, so it's not the fact that this is specifically from a pegmatite locality that makes it rare, it's the fact that it's from a BRAZILIAN pegmatite. It's still amazing to think that Brazil represents nearly 50% of all land in South America, and there are not many places were Fluorite has been found. Recently there was a discovery of well-crystallized Fluorites at the lesser known Castelo Pegmatite in Espirito Santo. This attractive thumbnail features a sharp, pastel sea-green colored cubic crystal measuring 2.2 cm on edge, with a few additional Fluorites and minor beige-white colored Feldspar. The front/display side is in good condition, but the back has a separation mark where the piece was removed from either the pocket wall or another Fluorite crystal. These are rare, and distinctly attractive, so it's a great opportunity for all you Fluorite collectors to pick up something that is virtually unseen on the market today.
