Fluorite (rare Arizona locale)

Item Description

A fairly obscure specimen of Fluorite from the Toughnut Mine near Tombstone, Arizona, featuring a coverage of sharp, well-formed cubic crystals with what I can best describe as a pale "silvery-greenish" hue measuring up to 6 mm on a plate of matrix coated by drusy pale lavender colored Quartz. The Fluorite crystals show good internal translucency, and the majority of them are completely undamaged, and the only real damage is around the periphery where the piece was removed from the pocket wall. One of the signature associations from this mine is to find little yellow-orange colored Wulfenite crystals on the Fluorites, and I looked at this piece closely with a loupe, but I couldn't find any Wulfenites. I did however find a few hollow "casts" of Quartz after Fluorite on the back of the piece for a nice touch. Very good quality for the locality, if you collect Fluorites or minerals of Arizona this is a choice example from the Toughnut Mine.
