Item Description

Classic mineral finds from Old China: limpid bi-colored fluorite cubes dramatically cover one side of this classic large older two-sided combination from the famous Shangbao Mine. The striking super glassy gem cubes, to 2.2 cm, have subtle very light green color dramatically accented with violet internal phantoms. The cubes also have both sharp and beveled edges, adding character. Scattered lustrous iridescent brassy pyrite crystals are clearly visible through the fluorites and are also embedded on the matrix. A bonus on the back side is the rich covering of lustrous, translucent, frosted quartz points to 3.9 cm. See the 2012 Mineralogical Record article in the China-IV Special Issue, Vol. 43, No. 5. The Shangbao Mine is famous for its beautiful fluorites and this is a very fine example of this varietal. An outstanding classic style older fluorite combination from the early 1990s finds here.
