Item Description

A classic, very showy and deceptive two-sided combination plate from this well-known Cumbria iron mine. Sharp, gemmy, very glassy, bipyramdial beta-style quartz crystals dominate the front of this aesthetic and rich plate. The dramatic crestal quartz crystal is 1.1 cm. HOWEVER, if you look closely, the center of the piece hosts numeous, small gem colorless fluorite cubes! Classic sparkly hematite variety specularite blades are noted on the back of the piece. The fluorites fluoresce purple. Probably from late 1960s to early 1970s mining operations. Ex Howard Belsky and formerly in the Scott Williams Collection. Choice combination material.
