Fluorite, Quartz & Calcite

Item Description

Sculptural, aesthetic and unusual 360-degree combination from the famed Yaogangxian Mine. Intergrown, glassy and lustrous, pretty sea-green Fluorite cuboctahedrons dramatically dominate the crest of the piece. The large fluorite at the top is 3.5 cm across. The crystals are very gemmy. The cube faces are glass-clear peering into the interiors. The surrounding modifying, octahedral faces have dense stepped-growth with satin luster faces. Three, glassy, translucent, Quartz crystals support the Fluorite crystals. The back of the piece is festooned with clusters of glassy, colorless, flattened nailhead Calcite rhombohedrons and there are more calcites nicely scattered on the front of the piece. Complete all-around and nearly pristine. A small bruise is noted at the base of the large fluorite crystal and the attachment is out-of-sight on the back on the calcite. Rich purple LW UV fluorite fluorescence and pink LW UV calcite fluorescence. See the 2011 Mineralogical Record article in China-III Special Issue, Vol. 42, No. 6.
