Item Description

Classic and aesthetic small cabinet fluorite combination from early 2000s finds at the famed Shangbao Mine. Lustrous, translucent, densely stepped-growth, variable purple fluorite cuboctahedrons are attractively nested on the mounded matrix. The beautiful large octo is 2.3 cm across. The matrix is covered with complementary quartz points and well-placed cream-colored calcite scalenohedrons to 2.4 cm (doubly terminated). See the 2012 Mineralogical Record article in the China-IV Special Issue, Vol. 43, No. 5. The Shangbao Mine is famous for its beautiful fluorites and this is a very fine example of this combination varietal. Ex Richard Rossi Collection. Richard is a Senior Fellow of the Mineralogical Record. This fine combination has two fine display views. Valued at $1000.
