Fluorite, Pyrite and Quartz

Fluorite from the famous pyrite location in Huanzala, Peru, is extremely rare. We have, over the years, seen various colors - the most famous of which are a pink pocket from the 1980s and a later green pocket. However, this particular specimen has a lavender light purpley color, and is unique in our experience because it is also perfectly balanced upon a cluster of razor sharp pyrite crystals! Actually, it is shocking to see in person and hold in the hand. It is also hefty at 277 grams. A small rosette of quartz is on the back. This came out of the collection of German collector Kurt Hefendehl, and seems to have been acquired by the 1990s - though it could be older. It is quite unlike others we have seen, and the combination and the BALANCE of the combo, makes it special. The fluorite is surprisingly complete and crystallized all around, complete on the back as well on close examination (it looks rough, but those are small faces). So, this is a 360 degree display specimen and.... It looks, honestly, like nothing else from anywhere. We have simply never seen a mixed fluorite/pyrite combination close to this except from the 1990s finds in Shangbao, Hunan, China; although the fluorite style and shape was different there.
