Item Description
This is a large specimen showing off sharp calcite crystals that have been completely replaced by fluorite! It is sparkly and pretty, and has rich hues of purples to hematite-stained reds. The photos do not convey the full and intricate 3-dimensionality of the piece, nor the sparkly reflections off the points. I have seen other specimens of this material from time to time (although it is NOT by any means common), usually 1-3 inch pieces with no aesthetics to speak of. This complete-all-around, pineapple-shaped cluster, stands an order of magnitude above the others I have seen. It is an impressive display piece AND an unusual pseudomorph. I obtained this perhaps 3-4 years ago and have seen no other comparable since, nor been able to get another from that source. I have seen several come out since that are more gray-brown in color, and smaller in size. I will not say this has super high value but it should be fairly worth 2000-2500, anyways, and quite desirable to a broad range of collectors who like fluorite, mexico, pseudomorphs, etc. 880 grams
