Item Description

Here we have a good display specimen from one of the most storied and well known districts in Colorado. The pegmatites around Lake George in Colorado have produced what most collectors and dealers consider to be the finest Amazonite specimens from the standpoint of superb color, top quality, wonderful display specimens and excellent associations. This particular specimen, has no Amazonite, but it does feature a sharp, gemmy penetration twin of cubic Fluorite measuring up to 2.5 cm on edge with minor attached pink Microcline and a small pseudomorph of Goethite replacing Siderite. When backlit, the Fluorite shows multi layer "phantom" color zoning with pink and yellow hues at the center, which grade out into brownish and purple tones on the exterior edges. The piece is in good shape overall, though there is a bit of roughness here and there, so it's not 100% pristine. These unusual "phantom" Fluorites are rare and desirable from this area, and they are a must have for any fan of Colorado minerals or Fluorite in general.
