Item Description

The famous Fluorite specimens from southern Illinois have become icons in the mineral world, and are now highly desirable / sought after on the market since the entire area closed down. These specimens were abundant on the market for years, and unfairly undervalued due to this fact, but their value (for the best specimens) has now reached a point to put them in the upper tier of US Fluorites. This is a wonderful small cabinet specimen featuring a few sharp, gemmy cubic crystals that are predominantly golden in color, but show thin "phantom" color zoning on the edges that ranges from purple in indoor lighting to blue in sunlight. The piece is accented by small, metallic golden sharp Chalcopyrite crystals on the exterior faces of the Fluorites. The largest crystal measures 3.2 cm on edge, and the main Fluorites are undamaged on the front / display side. A great, colorful piece of this beautiful classic material from the famous Minerva #1 Mine.
