Fluorite (''phantom'' crystals) with Scheelite (ex Chet Lemanski Collection)

A beautiful display specimen from an older find at the Shangbao Mine (2003) featuring a predominant cubic crystal of light green Fluorite measuring 2.7 cm, with a wonderful internal purple "phantom" surrounded by other smaller light green Fluorites and associated with tan Scheelite (showing a bright blue-white fluorescence under UV light). While Scheelite has been reported from the Shangbao Mine, it's rarely seen associated with Fluorite. Please note that the upper left front corner of the main Fluorite crystal has a slight area of interrupted growth, but there are small recrystallized faces present, so it's not broken as it's healed. A cool and aesthetic example of what are some of the most classic and desirable Fluorites from any Chinese locality. Valued at $900-$1,200. From the collection of Chester ("Chet") S. He worked briefly as a drill runner at the famous Sterling Mine, in Ogdensburg, New Jersey and from 1987 to 1990 he helped convert the mine into a public access mining museum. He has held the role of treasurer, vice president and president of the Franklin-Ogdensburg Mineralogical Society (FOMS), and has been a board member and vice president of the Franklin Mineral Museum. The rare copper arsenate, Lemanskiite was named in his honor in 1999.
