Item Description

The Shangbao Mine is famous around the world as simply one of the top Fluorite-producing localities in China, which is really saying something as there are many top-tier mines in the country that have produced excellent Fluorites over the last 25 years or so. Here we have an attractive small cabinet display specimen featuring a predominant, sharp, well-formed Fluorite cube with beautiful internal "phantoms" showing light purple and green hues measuring 2.3 cm aesthetically perched atop a matrix of this prismatic white Quartz crystals. Additional smaller Fluorites can be seen on the back the piece. The main Fluorite cube have a few contacts, so it's not pristine, but the colors and eye-catching "phantom" lines make it a desirable piece of this soon-to-be-classic material.
From the collection of Kurt Hefendehl (#605 C), a well-known German collector all over Europe with worldwide contacts to dealers and collectors. He started collecting seriously at the age of 14 and his great and varied worldwide collection reached over 6000 pieces. He was very active mineralogically until shortly before his passing in 2020 at the age of 82. Considering his collection had a large number of pieces, it still had an unusually high standard of quality from most worldwide localities. He particularly specialized in all classics as well as minerals of the Black Forest, where he spent much time collecting. His Black Forest and German subcollections went to his good friend Wolfgang Wendel. We at The Arkenstone have the privilege of offering the remainder of this great worldwide collection through our various platforms.
