Item Description

Despite the fact that there are only a handful of minerals found at the Elmwood mine, some of them are among the most recognizable minerals in the world. The classic purple Fluorites are a favorite among collectors, and it's easy to see why. This piece features a few sharp, GEM/gemmy, beautiful purple, stepped cubic crystals of Fluorite measuring up to 1.8 cm on edge smartly perched atop crystallized, gemmy, lustrous reddish-brown Sphalerite on Quartz matrix. A classic example of an Elmwood Fluorite. Excellent quality for the material, and very aesthetic to boot. This piece is close to 30 years old, and is a worthwhile display piece especially coming from this prominent and celebrated zinc ore body!
