Item Description

This long storied historic U.S. locality has produced some of the world's finest Calcite and Fluorite specimens extant. Despite the fact that there are only a handful of minerals found at the Elmwood mine, some of them are among the most recognizable minerals in the world. The classic purple Fluorites are a favorite among collectors, and it's easy to see why. This piece hosts good quality, sharp, gemmy cubes of purple cubes of Fluorite which are sitting atop good quality, lustrous, translucent, reddish-brown Sphalerite crystals. Please note that the ORANGE color of the crystals in the photographs is due to the torch used to back light the crystals, as they have no internal orange color whatsoever. These pieces are well known classics from the U.S. and this one really has it all from the standpoint of quality, size and displayability. The largest Fluorite crystal measures 1.1 cm on edge.
