Item Description
A striking, glassy, transparent to translucent, colorless, fluorite cube is attached to lustrous, jet-black sphalerite at its base. The sides and part of the front are coated with/dusted by sphalerite, chalcopyrite and iron oxides and add character. If not for these accents, you simply would not believe it was from this district, but rather an English or Illinoic piece as so few fluorites from here attain this size and clarity. The internal crazing in the upper, water-clear portion of the cube has a surreal, complex look as it refracts light on multiple planes. The front and display edges of the cube are pristine and this piece sits up well without aid. Older material (1960s-1970s) from the famous mines at Santa Eulalia, and the Consie Prince Collection. valued $300
