Fluorite on Sphalerite

These are some of the most iconic mineral from any orebody in the United States. The famed Elmwood Mine in Tennessee is renowned for producing beautifully crystallized display specimen of a handful of minerals, and the fact that there are only a few species found at this mine makes them more impressive in my mind. They are certainly some of the most recognizable minerals out there. This small cabinet sized specimen features good quality, sharp, lustrous, gemmy, purple cubic crystals of Fluorite measuring up to 2.3 cm on edge sitting on classic reddish-brown "Ruby Jack" Sphalerite matrix. Good quality for the material, no major damage to the front of the Fluorite crystals (there are some contacted areas on the back where the piece was separated from the pocket wall), and it's aesthetic to boot. This piece is around 30+ years old, and is a very worthwhile display piece especially coming from this prominent and celebrated zinc ore body!
