Item Description

The Elmwood Mine is famous for producing beautifully crystallized display specimens, and the fact that there are only a handful of minerals found at this mine makes them more impressive in my mind. They are certainly some of the most recognizable minerals in the world. The piece are a favorite among collectors, and it's easy to see why. This small cabinet sized specimen features good quality, sharp, lustrous, gemmy, purple cubic crystals of Fluorite measuring up to 2.0 cm on edge sitting on classic reddish-brown "Ruby Jack" Sphalerite matrix. Good quality for the material, no major damage to the upper Fluorite crystals, and it's aesthetic to boot. This piece is around 40+ years old, and is a worthwhile display piece especially coming from this prominent and celebrated zinc ore body! From the worldwide mineral collection of geologist, Demetrius Pohl (#1850), and the accompanying dealer label states it was originally in the collection of Chris and Agatha Galas.
