Item Description
It's interesting to note that only a handful of minerals are found at the Elmwood Mine, but the Fluorites (and Calcites) are among the most recognizable minerals in the world. The classic purple Fluorites are not only big with US mineral collectors, they are quite popular around the world. This piece features a good sized, gemmy, sharp, lustrous, gorgeous purple color cubic crystal of Fluorite measuring 3.8 cm across aesthetically sitting atop a mound of crystallized, lustrous, reddish-brown "Ruby Jack" Sphalerite. No damage on the display side, although it does have a contact / separation mark on the back where it was removed from the pocket wall. A fantastic example of these classics Elmwood specimens. This piece is around 30 years old, and is a worthwhile display piece especially coming from this prominent and celebrated zinc ore body! Priced at $1,500 in the inventory.
