Fluorite on Quartz (uncommon locality specimen)

Item Description

Arizona is best known for its secondary ore minerals, although there are several localities where attractive Fluorites have been found over the years. With that said, specimens from the Homestake-Jack Pot Mine are not commonly seen on the market, especially these days, as nothing has come out in many years. This small cabinet display specimen features an attractive group of gemmy/translucent octahedral crystals of Fluorite measuring up to 2.2 cm across on Quartz matrix. The Fluorites have a pleasing light green hue, and the majority of them are undamaged. It should be noted that while the Fluorite crystals are octahedral in shape, they actually have hundreds of tiny modifying faces all over, which appears to be a second generation overgrowing the original Fluorite crystals. A really cool specimen of these hard to find specimens from this old gold mine in northwestern Arizona (near the Nevada Border). Priced at $950 in the inventory. The piece sits and displays nicely on its own without a base or clay.
