Item Description
The famous Fluorite specimens from the Wise Mine Fluorites are well-known and celebrated around New England, but these days they rarely appear on the market. The majority of the crystals from this locality are loose singles with no matrix, so it's quite exciting and impressive to see a lovely display quality matrix specimen of this material. This piece features a few beautiful strong green colored crystals of Fluorite measuring up to 2.2 cm sitting atop gem quality, colorless, prismatic Quartz crystal matrix. What really sets this piece apart is that the crystals have a unique form / habit featuring a second generation of growth. The central portion of the main crystal is cubic in habit, but the corners have a secondary overgrowth of a combination of cubic, octahedral, and dodecahedral faces. The Fluorites are fairly gemmy and looks very nice in both indoor lighting and sunlight. The piece also shows an interesting fluorescence under SW UV light as you can see from the photos. A really cool specimen of this classic material. Priced in the inventory at $1,200.
