Fluorite on Quartz (ex Dr. Stephen Smale Collection)

A fine miniature display specimen featuring a robust group of highly lustrous, very gemmy, beautiful soft blue and rich purple colored Fluorite cubes measuring 3.8 cm across sitting very aesthetically atop prismatic, translucent Quartz crystals with minor associated Calcite and golden Muscovite. The Fluorite group has a few areas of minor roughness, but is still in great shape on several sides (it's partially contacted on the back where it grew against the pocket wall). It's hard to find a big group of Fluorite crystals propped up on Quartz like this to create such wonderful displayability and overall visual appeal. BETTER in person, it was a bit hard to convey the quality of the Fluorites in the photos. The piece can actually be displayed without the aid of a base or clay, as it sits nicely on its own at a certain angle. Priced in our inventory at $1,800. Ex Dr. Stephen Smale Collection. His accomplishments include being awarded the Fields Medal in 1966 along with being the awarded the Wolf Prize in mathematics in 2007.
