Item Description
What an aesthetic specimen from the famous Xianghuapu Mine. A prominent, sharp, frosted cube of Fluorite measuring 2.4 cm on edge is proudly sitting atop a matrix composed mostly of white Quartz in "strata"-like layers with minor associated Pyrite. The Fluorite cube is in excellent condition, with no damage I can see with the naked eye. The color is mostly green in the center, but the outer edge has a very pale whitish-lilac hue (best seen in white light). Not your typical Fluorite for the locality, and it's incredibly showy to boot. We had this one priced at $950 in the inventory. Ex Dr. Stephen Smale Collection. Along with amassing one of the finest private mineral collections in the world, Steve is a renowned mathematician. His accomplishments include being awarded the Fields Medal in 1966 along with being the awarded the Wolf Prize in mathematics in 2007.
