Fluorite on Quartz (circa 1990s)

Peru in the late 1990s was mostly producing masses of pyrite, but one amazing pocket of green fluorite came out, which I still recall to this day; and this specimen came from that pocket through us at the time. Once the size of a basketball probably, it has twice been trimmed down to a smaller and more balanced size, now showing off two glorious, neon-green, glowing fluorite crystals perched on contrasting white quartz. An important specimen from the find for the quality and color of the fluorites, the perch on white, and the size overall (nearly 2 kilos!), this remains important to this day and the find has not been repeated. The larger fluorite is 7 cm on edge, larger if measured across the longest point; and it not only glows green with a bright color but also has a nice wet-looking surface luster. The quartz matrix is not pristine - none of them were - but the large points to the right are complete and terminated and have a great contrast to the fluorite. This is an important, showy, large, historic specimen of an unusual combination and from an unusual place - all the marks you want to tick to have a unique fluorite that should retain some value. You would not expect it to come from Peru today, like this! Valued 15k-plus. Found circa 1997-1998.
