Fluorite on Quartz

Item Description

Riemvasmaak has long been known as the best source for bright green, octahedral fluorite and this is a perfectly balanced, aesthetic specimen of unusually high quality in small size. These are also typically associated with clear to white quartz for amazing contrast. This piece shows 2 generations of quartz growth - the first quartz crystal was clear and gemmy, then as the fluorite crystallized on it, the second generation of milky quartz grew over the quartz and a bit of the fluorite, giving the faces a shimmering look. The quartz crystal is 2.9 cm tall and the fluorite is 2.3 cm corner to corner. Technically this is a small miniature perhaps. This is barely too large to be a thumbnail but depending on how it is rotated, it is possible to fit it into a perky box although we'd recommend a new Crystal Showcase™️ box (https://www.irocks.com/minerals/specimen/50149) for optimal display and safety.
