Fluorite on Quartz

Item Description

These 14-sided purple fluorites from the DeAn Mine did not come out in a large quantity, at least not specimens of high quality such as this one. When under good light (see closeups) they light up an intense purple-red color, they are particularly prized (many are very dark purple and not as pretty). This is two tightly-intergrown crystals, the larger measuring 3.5 cm across and with wonderful transparency for this find. The quartz on these specimens is etched away with HF acid to expose the fine fluorites.
