Item Description

An extraordinary example from this classic American locality, with choice, very purple crystals perched on white quartz. What makes this piece exceptional are many things: is its 3-dimensional display, whereas most are plates; the stark color contrast of the richest prupley color for the locality to the white quartz; the fact that the quartz matrix is ALSO crystallized, instead of just druse or host rock; and the good size of the fluorites to 2.6 cm. This specimen was found in the 1980s, we think, and has long been in the collection of Kevin Brown, a collector here in our office, since the mid-1990s. It is a superb, choice specimen in that the aesthetics of the piece match what we would want in a top fluorite from other, more common localities - yet with this locaiton we often have to settle for beautiful plates of conjoined or intergrown crystals without such stark isolation as you would normally dream of in a great fluorite specimen. This piece was valued $2000-2500 by the former owner. Comes with custom lucite display base.
