Fluorite on Quartz

Item Description

The famous De'an Mine in China is well-known for producing some of the largest, most displayable and iconic Fluorite specimens from any locality in the entire country. This attractive full cabinet-sized display specimen features a few wonderful, gemmy, purple Fluorite crystals sitting atop white colored etched Quartz matrix. The crystals show a balanced combination of cubic and dodecahedral faces and they glow with color when backlit. The largest Fluorite measures 2.1 cm across. This is a wonderful older specimen from the first finds in 2002-2003. Valued at $1,800 as very little high quality material from this mine is available on the market now.
Ex Dr. Stephen Smale Collection. Along with amassing one of the finest private mineral collections in the world, Steve is a renowned mathematician. His accomplishments include being awarded the Fields Medal in 1966 along with being the awarded the Wolf Prize in mathematics in 2007.
