Fluorite on Quartz

Yaogangxian is perhaps the most famous, and historically greatest, mine in China for fluorite among other species. Prolific for both minerals and ores, the sheer quality of Yaogangxian mineral specimens immediately comes to mind, with Fluorite being among of its most beautiful and collectable species. Impressive for its size at 6 cm on edge, this single crystal rests on a bed of cm-size Quartz crystals. Gemmy to translucent, the satiny luster of the faces gives the crystal visual body, yet still allows hints of the gemminess to come through in a truly seductive way. However, what is truly EXTRAORDINARY is that this crystal is striped. Not zoned, not phantomed, but actually having organic-looking stripes the likes of which I have not really seen from anywhere. These stripes are actually preferential, creating their own additional texturing to the surfaces. Amazing. And on top of all this, the crystal has a brilliant blue fluorescence that also reflects the striping. Really, this is simply exceptional, and even better in person. This is a totally unique fluorite specimen!
