Fluorite on Quartz

Item Description

RARE and exotic style of fluorite with druzy quartz coatings from an unnamed mine in Zhejiang Province, China. The intergrown and isolated cubes are aesthetically strewn on large, sculptural, undulating, well-prepared sawed matrix plate covered with sparky druzy quartz. The pristine cubes, to 3.2 cm on edge, are dark purple with satin luster stepped-growth faces under normal light and are dramatically accented with preferential coatings of starkly contrasting, sparkly white druzy quartz. Backlighting reveals a striking BONUS to the cubes! The translucent cubes are color-zoned, GLOWING with cranberry-red cores surrounded by dark purple edge phantoms. Rich Purple LW UV fluorescence. 1049 grams or 2.3 pounds mass. This was a COVID-era find, and we never pinned down the exact locality at the time.
