Fluorite on Quartz

Item Description

Here is a classic and pretty example of the glassy, gemmy, water-clear green Fluorites that came out of the Xianghuapu Mine in the 1990s. It has a special sparkle to the surface, combined with internal brightness - many have one or the other, not both. This attractive cluster consists of one prominent and several smaller transparent to translucent, intergrown, pale sea-green cubes with well defined faces and edges. Fluorites in this cluster are from 1 to 3.5 cm across and are pleasingly set on a wedge of white, banded, milky Quartz for added aesthetics. The two larger crystals have subtle, slightly darker and slightly turbid, sea-green phantoms that are visible when viewing face-on. All of the cube faces on all of the crystals have subtle, very low-profile, square growth hillocks that add character. A few corners are just slightly compromised on a few crystals. The piece is very appealing and highly representative of the locality. Old 1990s material, and valued $1500-2000.
