Fluorite on Quartz

Panasqueira is one of the great European localities, producing iconic specimens of Fluorapatite, Ferberite and many other minerals. The Fluorites from this locality don't get enough attention for their beautiful form and color, and this piece is one of the more aesthetic examples we've had to offer in the auctions. This large miniature / small cabinet display specimen features a few gemmy purple groups of cubic Fluorite with dodecahedral modifications on the edges measuring up to 1.1 cm, which are sitting beautifully atop white prismatic Quartz matrix. A bit of accenting tan Siderite and tiny dark brass colored crystals of Pyrite make for a really nice touch. No major damage that I can see on the front/display side. A choice example of this classic material. From the collection of Kurt Hefendehl (#40 PO), a well-known German collector all over Europe with worldwide contacts to dealers and collectors. He started collecting seriously at the age of 14 and his great and varied worldwide collection reached over 6000 pieces. He was very active mineralogically until shortly before his passing in 2020 at the age of 82. Considering his collection had a large number of pieces, it still had an unusually high standard of quality from most worldwide localities. He particularly specialized in all classics as well as minerals of the Black Forest, where he spent much time collecting. His Black Forest and German subcollections went to his good friend Wolfgang Wendel.
