Fluorite on Quartz

Item Description

Here we have a wonderful robust cabinet sized specimen from the famous Xiefang Mine in Jiangxi, China. This locality has been a source of some of the finest crystals of Baryte from any locality in the country, but it also has produced some excellent Fluorites as well. This piece features a few intergrown groups of cubic Fluorite with a very pleasing green hue, and good internal gemminess/translucency, measuring up to 4.3 cm, aesthetically sitting atop a matrix of snow-white Quartz crystals. The piece is in great shape all around, with no major damage that I can find, but it does have a couple of saw marks on the back where it was trimmed down into its current size. The saw marks allow the piece to sit beautifully on its own without a base or clay, and the positioning of the Fluorites is at the optimal point atop the specimen. I would put this one in the range of about $1,500-$2,000 if I had it out for sale at show.
