Item Description

This is a nice display specimen from one of the most storied and well known districts in Colorado. The pegmatites near the Lake George area of Colorado have produced what most collectors and dealers consider to be the finest Amazonite specimens from the standpoint of superb color, top quality, wonderful display specimens and excellent associations. This particular specimen has no Amazonite, but features sharp, well-formed, purplish colored cubic crystals of Fluorite on beige Microcline matrix. The largest Fluorite measures 4 mm. Interestingly, there are two hollow "casts" on the specimen where perhaps Siderite once grew, but the shape of the "casts" is unusual, and I'm not entirely sure what mineral once grew there. Addtionally, Microcline shows brilliant pink fluorescence under UV light. A nice example of this classic material from Colorado.
