Item Description

A dramatic, sculptural and rare fluorite and marcasite combination from the Denton Mine and the Ross Lillie Collection # 1061. Ross' handwritten note on his label states: "Rare occurrence from this orebody. Advance mining south-face Bahama Pod July, 1992." Striking and beautiful, color-zoned and bi-colored cubes aesthetically rest on the granular marcasite matrix. The highly lustrous, rich purple cubes, to 2.5 cm, have mesmerizing blue and darker purple edge phantoms and striking stepped-growth faces. The cores of some of the cubes are amber, adding color and pizzazz. The couple of noted gently bruised edges are certainly only modest detractions to this very fine and rare combination.
