Item Description
Lollingite, along with Fluorite, Calcite, Ilvaite, Scheelite and Quartz, is a signature species from this now famous mine in a remote part of China. The combinations and associations seen in recent years has given collectors some truly impressive and fine quality specimens. It should be noted that Lollingite can often be confused with Arsenopyrite visually, yet due to the chemistry (Lollingite actually contains no sulfur, so it's simply iron arsenide) they are easily distinguished. This showy and sculptural display specimen features a handful of gorgeous purple colored, GEMMY, sharp octahedral crystals of Fluorite measuring up to 2.3 cm on edge sitting atop a group of, brilliant silver-metallic crystals forming an elongated "plume"-like or "flower"-shaped group. The stark contrast of the gem quality colorful Fluorite crystals against the metallic Lollingite is fantastic! VERY LITTLE damage that I can see to the display side, but it's really important to note that one almost never sees Fluorite of this color and quality associated with world-class crystallized Lollingite. Hard to photograph, but really attractive in person. It's three-dimensional, eye-catching and a fantastic association specimen that you won't find from anywhere else. Valued at $1,250 in the inventory for size, quality and aesthetics. It wasn't that long ago that there were many of these pieces on the market, but if you look around, there isn't nearly as much out there now.
