Item Description
An unusual specimen of tourmaline from the noted Namibian collection of Shields and Frances Flynn. It took a decade of people commenting on how unusual some of these Namibian schorl tourmalines were, before the academics took a harder look and figured out these odd shaped crystals were actually a new species in the tourmaline group, called foitite. They have a distinct look. This balanced piece has a great crystal, standing proudly, accented by a 1 cm sugar-cube of neon green fluorite! From a good collection, and with good aesthetics, it is a classic example from the finds (circa from 15-ish years ago).
