Item Description

Here we have a fantastic, beautiful and aesthetic display specimen from the Xianghualing Mine featuring gorgeous gemmy green octahedral crystals Fluorite, the largest measuring 4.7 cm across, sitting atop a previous generation of dark silvery-purple colored octahedral Fluorite matrix. The Fluorites play host to a beautiful tabular, translucent, smoky-grey colored bladed Calcite crystals measuring up to 1.5 cm across, beautifully sprinkled over the piece. The eye-catching arrangement and visual impact of the piece leaves nothing to be desired, and it's one of the showiest examples we've had to offer from this locality. It's rare to find green and purple Fluorite together on the same piece from this mine, and the added Calcite bonus makes it all the more desirable. No major damage anywhere on the display side of the piece, but it's contacted on the lower portion where it was removed from the pocket wall. Valued $2,500.
From the collection of Kurt Hefendehl (#616 C), a well-known German collector all over Europe with worldwide contacts to dealers and collectors. He started collecting seriously at the age of 14 and his great and varied worldwide collection reached over 6000 pieces. He was very active mineralogically until shortly before his passing in 2020 at the age of 82. Considering his collection had a large number of pieces, it still had an unusually high standard of quality from most worldwide localities. He particularly specialized in all classics as well as minerals of the Black Forest, where he spent much time collecting. His Black Forest and German subcollections went to his good friend Wolfgang Wendel. We at The Arkenstone have the privilege of offering the remainder of this great worldwide collection over the next two to three years through our various platforms.
