Item Description
This piece is essentially a "floater" as it's crystallized all the way around with no point of attachment that I can see with the naked eye. A robust group of sharp, translucent, purple colored Fluorite cubes measuring 2.7 cm on edge are smartly sitting along the edge of a doubly-terminated Quartz crystal with a smaller secondary doubly-terminated Quartz group of the front of the Flourite group. Small "nailhead"-shaped groups of Calcite along with minor Muscovite can be seen on the piece as well. Very good quality all around, and SO AESTHETIC! We had this one priced at $2,500 in the inventory. Ex Dr. Stephen Smale Collection. Along with amassing one of the finest private mineral collections in the world, Steve is a renowned mathematician. His accomplishments include being awarded the Fields Medal in 1966 along with being the awarded the Wolf Prize in mathematics in 2007. You can read Steve's bio on the Mineralogical Record website ( https://mineralogicalrecord.com/labels.asp?colid=671&page=1 ) or on Wikipedia.
