Fluorite on doubly-terminated Quartz ("floater" specimen) (ex Dr. Stephen Smale Collection)

Item Description

This piece is essentially a "floater" as it's crystallized all the way around with no point of attachment that I can see with the naked eye. A robust group of sharp, translucent, purple colored Fluorite cubes measuring 2.7 cm on edge are smartly sitting along the edge of a doubly-terminated Quartz crystal with a smaller secondary doubly-terminated Quartz group of the front of the Flourite group. Small "nailhead"-shaped groups of Calcite along with minor Muscovite can be seen on the piece as well. Very good quality all around, and SO AESTHETIC! His accomplishments include being awarded the Fields Medal in 1966 along with being the awarded the Wolf Prize in mathematics in 2007.
