Fluorite on Dolomite

Item Description

A beautiful classic example of Yaogangxian Fluorite. This mine is not only one of the premier Fluorite-producing localities in China, but the world. The quality and diversity of the numerous specimens that have come from this locality is about as good as anything you'll find in the entire country, which is really saying something considering the large number of Fluorites that have come out of China over the last 20+ years. This specimen hosts a sharp, lustrous, gemmy, soft green colored (with slight purple "phantom" zoning) cube measuring 3.5 cm on edge, associated with a few smaller Fluorites sitting on botryoidal, cream colored Dolomite on matrix. There are very thin dodecahedral modifications on the edges of the main Fluorite crystal. Upon close inspection, I can see a small indentation on the front face of the main Fluorite crystal, but it almost looks like it was naturally etched, and it's not true damage. Classic, showy material that will go down as true Chinese classics. I value this one in the $1,200 range.
