Fluorite on Calcite ex Hefendehl

Item Description

Clay Center Fluorites are easily recognizable by their distinct root beer colored cubic crystals with or without Celestine. This lovely miniature features sharp crystal forms with multiple Fluorites that are intergrown, but with a prominent, 2.3 cm crystal front-and-center. The Fluorite crystals have a distinctly darker interior for much of the crystal with a marked, dark brown, transparent corners along with the characteristic snowflake-like inclusions near the center. The two main crystals have sharp edges and corners and are pristine. The small crystal at the rear of the piece is contacted on the back. Under ultraviolet light this piece is amazing! Under shortwave it is a vibrant cream color with a distinct bright cream rim that is also phosphorescent, and under long wave the Fluorite is a bright creamy orange! There are numerous, tiny, white Celestine crystals on the limestone matrix for great contrast. From the Kurt Hefendehl collection of Germany, this is an oldtimer!
