Fluorite on Calcite (both fluorescent)

Inviting and quite uncommon, this choice miniature is from the obscure locality of Timahdit. 2.5 cm on edge, the main Fluorite crystal is gemmy, which enhances the pleasant, sky-blue color and its delicate purple edging. Resting perfectly on white Calcite, the Fluorite is lustrous with interesting modifications on a few of the corners and part of the girdle. There are several sharp, smaller octahedrons that are intergrown on one side, and these add a definite sculptural look to this already aesthetic specimen. The Fluorite has a rich, vivid, blue fluorescence, while the Calcite's fluorescence is an off-white with hints of its classic, bright-orange mixed in. Better in person. I had not seen these on the market, and apparently it was a small find. Dr. Pohl seems to have bought much of it, and this is a choice miniature from a single shelf of the material she had purchased as they came out some time ago.
