Charming in every respect, this delightful miniature exemplifies everything that Fluorites from the Shangbao Mine are known for. It is a classic style form the early days here, late 1990s into the early 2000s. Perched perfectly on a matrix of crystallized Calcite and Quartz, this gemmy, 2.1 cm Fluorite is complex and attractive. An octahedron modified considerably by the cube, the resulting flat corners are preferentially colored purple. This makes them stand out against the clear, watery-blue interior, and the lustrous and appealing terraced faces add even more drama and interest to the crystal. The crystals have mild fluorescence, with the Fluorite being purplish-blue, the Calcite orange, and the Quartz a surprising green. Excellent aesthetics and equally good balance and geometry combine to create this choice miniature. From the collection of Kurt Hefendehl, a well-known German collector all over Europe with worldwide contacts to dealers and collectors. He started collecting seriously at the age of 14 and his great and varied worldwide collection reached over 6000 pieces.
