Fluorite on Arsenopyrite (ex Dr. Stephen Smale Collection)

Several large, soft purple colored cubes of gemmy / translucent Fluorite are sitting atop a bit of Arsenopyrite with some associated Muscovite and Quartz here and there. The Fluorites are good sized for the locality and the arrangement of the crystals makes for a really nice overall specimen. The front side of the piece is in fairly good condition, though the leftmost Fluorite cube has a gouge. The piece is contacted on the back where it was removed from the pocket wall. It's still an attractive piece of this well-known material from this prestigious locality. Ex Dr. Stephen Smale Collection. Along with amassing one of the finest private mineral collections in the world, Steve is a renowned mathematician. His accomplishments include being awarded the Fields Medal in 1966 along with being the awarded the Wolf Prize in mathematics in 2007.
