Fluorite on and replacing Calcite with Selenite (Weaver Coll.)

Item Description

This is a large, fairly dramatic example of a rare mineral replacement caught in the process (so to speak), where sparkling purple fluorite has replaced previous crystals of calcite - or at least started to do so. You can see within the edges and some small breaks, that the calcite is not fully replaced in this specimen, although it is in other similar pieces. The fluorite is a thick coating. Some specimens are like this, and some are fully replaced (aside from the side view, you can tell by weight). This is just an old Mexico classic.
