Item Description
RARE color, old-time, classic yellow (rare color!) fluorite from one the famous mines at Weardale. These are old specimens, seldom seen in sizes beyond miniatures! It could be from the 1800s or as recently as the early to mid 1900s when some few intrepid collectors went back in the old workings. In any case, you almost never see them in such size! Aesthetically intergrown lustrous cubes, to 4.6 cm, have striking gem portions and rich amber corners and faces. Striking contrasting snowflake-like interiors are a dramatic complement. Bright blue-purple fluorescence. Ex Chet Lemanski Collection and acquired in 2000. An exceptional and rare bi-colored old-time Weardale fluorite.
