Item Description

A beautiful old Fluorite from Stolberg in Saxony-Anhalt, Germany featuring attractive soft blue colored, gemmy, sharp cubic crystals measuring up to 2.4 cm with minor matrix. Please note that the crystals look more blue in person than the photos indicate. You can see a few of the corners on the larger cubes exhibit slightly "frosted" octahedral modifications. The blue crystals from Stolberg are arguably the most desirable hue for this material, and they are virtually impossible to get your hands on these days. This piece easily dates back close to 100 years, if not more. The majority of the main crystals are in very good condition, though the piece is rough around the edges where it was removed from the pocket wall. The quality, displayability and size of the piece makes it a very desirable and eye-catching specimen of this old classic material. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#4507). Kay was a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics. She nearly lived 100 years from April 1920 - March 2020.
